I had so much fun whittling down a story to just 50 words in Vivian Kirkfield's #50PreciousWords contest. As part of her literacy initiative, I donated Usha and the Big Digger to The Bookery in Manchester, New Hampshire.
Without further ado, here is my submission:
I WISH I NEVER WRAPPED IT (49 words)
I got my friend a present.
I tied it up with ribbon.
But now it's wrapped,
I’m afraid to say,
I forget what I put in it.
I hope it’s not stinky or slimy
Or microscopically small.
She’s opening it.
I can’t look!
Oh.
It’s not bad after all.
